“D” Returns

If you are tired of hearing about vampires that glow when exposed to the sun, you found the right movie. Based on the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker, directed by Gary Shore and produced by Michael De Luca , the American movie Dracula Untold, as the title reads, the story never told before of our beloved and one and only vampire: Dracula.

The main cast includes Luke Evans as Vlad Tepes (Count Dracula), Dominic Cooper as Mehmed, Charles Dance as the Vampire (Caligula), Sarah Gadon as Mirena and Art Parkinson as Ingeras.

The inhabitants of Transylvania have always had a troubled relationship with the Turks. In order to avoid another bloody battle with their enemies, the king of Transylvania agreed to deliver 1000 boys to them, including his son, Vlad Tepes. During his time with the Turks, Vlad learned the art of war and became famous for impaling his opponents.
Dracula and his son Ingeras.
Upon returning home, he is named prince and lives in peace for 10 years until this peace is suddenly transformed into despair because the king of the Turks - this time Mehmed - requires that children be delivered to eventually be their soldiers. Vlad thinks of sending children to both remain in peace, but he can't send his own son to go through the same pain he suffered once.

A bloody conversation between Vlad and Caligula
With that, he sets fire to the straw and begins a new war. Knowing that he wouldn’t win, he gathers all his courage and asks for help to the mysterious monster (Caligula) that lives in the dark Broken Tooth Mountain. The prince then drinks the vampire blood, becoming like him and getting supernatural powers.

A mixture of action, fantasy and horror, that amazing production even leads us to love Count Dracula, since despite his ferocity, he proves to be a prince, husband and father responsible and loving, who would give up his own life on behalf of those whom he loves.

P.S.: If you are a fan of Dracula and expect to see something like the original, then you will be disappointed. If you can ignore this, you can find a pleasurable substantial movie about war, love and sacrifice. Dracula delivers some good moments of drama and action with the potential of turning into a movie franchise.
